Cases sold & Counting

how redzone cases was born

In March 2016, Redzone Cases was born. I had just gotten the iPhone 6 and was tired of having just a plain black case on my previous phones. As a massive hockey fan, I wanted to express that passion. I found cases for basketball and football, but there was nothing for hockey. So, I decided to make some cases myself. Within a week, I had finished my first design (Patrick Kane), selected a manufacturer, and started promoting on Instagram. On March 12th, 2016, at 8 P.M., our store opened. Surprisingly, at 7:57 P.M., we received our first sale—for not just one case, but two! Yes, you read that correctly—we got our first sale before we officially went live. At that time, I didn't know how to officially release products, but luckily, it didn't matter.

MLBPA LICENSE = ACQUIRED

I always knew licensing was the direction I wanted to take Redzone Cases. I wanted it to be legitimate, not just a side job. In 2018, I decided to go for it and reached out to both the MLBPA and NHLPA. I heard back from the MLBPA right away, and they loved the concept. A few short weeks later, I was officially licensed by the Major League Baseball Players Association. It was an exhilarating experience. I made the decision to go full-time and quit my job to focus on Redzone Cases and make it the best company it could be.

NHLPA IS ON BOARD

In 2019, I finally convinced the NHLPA to hop on board, we haven't looked back since. As a Canadian and a huge Hockey fan, I was thrilled.

NHL ALUMNI REACHED OUT

In 2020, we received an email from the NHL Alumni. After a few exchanges of emails, we successfully secured our third license, which enables us to create cases featuring past hockey greats.

Going forward

Today, I am still the only employee, and I'm proud of it. Why? Because if someone has an issue with their order, I take it personally and want to help. If someone provides feedback, I can personally take it into account. If there's a player or design request, I can make it happen (if it's requested enough). For a while, I didn't want potential customers to think I was just another big corporation, but now I'm proud of what I've built.

At the end of the day, my goal is to ensure everyone has the best shopping experience at Redzonecases.com, and I'll do everything in my power to make that happen.

I appreciate not only those who make a purchase but also anyone who visits my site. I never thought this would become my full-time job, but I absolutely love what I do.
